sanFlytm
software iSCSI Target
for Windows
emBoot's new sanFly software iSCSI target for Windows emphasizes simplicity and ease of use. Those new to iSCSI will appreciate its straightforward dialogues and new target wizard, while iSCSI veterans will find sanFly a valuable tool for demos and lab use.
Turn a Windows system into an iSCSI SAN
Quickly create an IP SAN in minutes using hardware you already have. sanFly takes space on a Windows filesystem and turns it into an iSCSI target. You can now let any computer on an Ethernet network use this iSCSI storage.
The quickest - and easiest - way to create a diskless Windows OS
With the addition of sanFly iSCSI target functionality, emBoot makes it easier for those evaluating netBoot/i or winBoot/i, as all needed components to implement iSCSI boot for Windows (2000, XP, 2003, Vista, and 2008) or Linux (SLES / RHEL / openSUSE) are now available from one vendor.
Free download
sanFly is available for download at no cost, but additional functionality can be unlocked by purchasing a license key. The unlicensed version functions as a simple iSCSI target, providing CHAP authentication, and LUNs that can be optionally provisioned to accommodate only the actual data required.
Create single, shared bootable images for multiple users - with or without individual client persistence
The licensed version of sanFly offers additional modes of operation and functionality, including:
- Shared-persistent mode:
allows usage of a shared read-only iSCSI target with multiple initiator access; individual initiator writes are tracked and cached by the sanFly iSCSI target. This supports the use of a single "master" iSCSI LUN with individual persistent write caches per client.
- Shared-nonpersistent mode:
same as above, but the client write cache is discarded at (re)boot.
- Commit cache to master image:
Any single client's write cache can be committed to the "master" for repurposing / patching / deployment purposes.
- Clear cache:
Individual clients can be instantly reset back to the contents of the master iSCSI LUN.
System Requirements
- Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, latest service pack
