Managed PC Boot Agent on Disk (MBAoD) v5.0

Multiprotocol network boot software enables network administrators to deploy centrally administered management applications to networked clients during their boot phase.

Client PCs can do a "network boot” using the NIC or LAN-On-Motherboard.

Examples of network boot applications are:

  • Drive imaging tools for OS deployment
  • Diskless thin clients
  • Virus scanners
  • BIOS updates
  • Disaster recovery / critical file restore facilities

Previously, MBAoD was available only as a NIC-specific option ROM or integrated as part of the PC's main BIOS. Now, a universal disk-based (floppy, CD, Compact Flash or Disk on Module) boot agent has been released. This disk-based boot agent supports a wide variety of NICs.

MBAoD is fully compliant with the Intel Wired for Management - Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) specification. PXE is the defacto industry standard protocols/APIs for network booting.

Key Benefits

  • Boot diskless systems such as thin clients and dedicated systems
  • Deploy software and OS for new systems
  • Automate system maintenance such as backups
  • Automate system checking such as virus scanning
  • Ensure security where a guaranteed secure system is needed
  • No need to change PC or NIC-specific settings

Dynamic UNDI Binding (DUB)
Dynamic UNDI Extraction

  • Take advantage of emBoot’s proven and robust network boot protocol stacks on network adapters not already supported by emBoot.
  • Easily bind to existing NIC's UNDI, or even extract the UNDI for inclusion and use with emBoot's large list of other supported NICs
  • More easily utilize network boot in single-use situations where it is advantageous to not change the client’s hardware or BIOS configuration, e.g. deployments, staging lab use for upgrades, etc.

Works with other NEW products from emBoot - PXESDS, PXEWINCE, Universal Packet Driver - that enhance your capabilities in deployment, use of WIN CE .NET, PXE server management, and more!

PXEWINCE (contact us for more info on licensing...)

  • Single stage PXE bootstrap loader for Windows CE .NET simplifies the Windows CE .NET network boot process
  • Easier migration from embedded designs incorporating large amounts of expensive persistent local storage, reducing build cost of embedded devices.
  • DOS Packet driver offers single driver, universal support for ALL NICs - including Gigabit NICs from Intel, Broadcom, and others when used in PXE network boot.

PXE Server Directory Service (PXESDS)
(contact us for more info on licensing...)

  • The emBoot PXE Server Directory Service (PXESDS) significantly simplifies the management of PXE clients in networks with multiple PXE servers.

  • Prior to the availability of PXESDS, networks with multiple PXE servers had no means to predict which PXE server would respond to a client’s boot request.

  • With PXESDS, network administrators can specify which PXE server a client will boot from, and thus only need to configure and maintain that client's boot -related files on the designated PXE server.
