emBoot Inc. Launches PXE Certification Services, VIA Networking First to Get Certified

Mississauga, ON, November 15, 2004 -- emBoot Inc. today announced that its new division, emBoot Labs, will provide testing and certification services to NIC and NIC ASIC vendors. Since Intel no longer provides testing or development kits for PXE (Pre eXecution Environment), there is no formalized resource for vendors to ensure that their PXE implementations are 100% compliant with the PXE specification. This is increasingly important as PXE's NIC-specific drivers are being used as transport layers for other desktop management products (Symantec Ghost, Altiris Client Management Suite, and many others).

"Promoting a certification standard will help raise the overall quality of PXE implementations, which in turn will help management software exploit their functionality as a platform-specific transport for various purposes." said emBoot founder George Kostiuk. emBoot's newly-developed test suite is the most exhaustive PXE test available, and draws upon their staff's ongoing expertise with the PXE specification since it was drafted in 1997.
