History
Originally founded by George Kostiuk, emBoot began as Lanworks Technologies Inc in 1986. Acquired by 3Com in 1998, the company became Lanworks Technologies Co., a wholly owned 3Com subsidiary.

Within 3Com, we instrumented 3Com's network adapters with MBA firmware, which shipped on over a million network adapters per month. In late 2001, 3Com closed the Lanworks division as they refocused on changing markets. In early 2002, George Kostiuk, along with key staff from the Lanworks team, formed emBoot Inc. extending Lanworks' former vision and mission.
